48214 CARE’s mission is to provide effective service in Detroit's 48214 community by connecting neighbors in need with other neighbors, partners, and services that can provide physical, spiritual, emotional, and other forms of relief.
How it works.
Identify the need.
We identify basic needs of people in our community affected by unemployment or underemployment. Individuals provide ways the community can support them, including providing food and maintaining shelter for themselves and their families..
Build a team of supporters.
Our goal is to build a team of individuals, families, churches, and businesses who are ready to step up and carry our affected neighbors through this financial hardship.
Match the need with the support.
As we identify needs and supporters, we match resources with neighbors to meet the needs.
48214 CARE exists to connect neighbors in our community , hear their voices and bring resources that will bring value and sustainability to our neighborhoods with neighbors who are ready to help.
Examples of how we support our neighbors.
Provide groceries.
Pick up groceries and drop them off with a neighbor’s porch, or have them delivered.
Assist with utility shutoffs and other emergency bills.
Work with utility companies, public services, and other corporations to restore services.
Pick up prescriptions.
Pick up and drop off prescriptions for clients who cannot leave their homes due to illness or disabilities.
Provide landscaping services.
Provide landscaping services to clients who are elderly or disabled.
Mail a gift card.
Purchase a gift card to a grocery store or local restaurant and mail it to a neighbor.
Run an errand.
Run an errand for a neighbor who cannot safely or easily leave their home.
