Child Needs

MACC Sports

MACC Sports is a community-focused sports program through MACC Development that strives to balance high-quality sports instruction with Gospel-centered character growth and teaching.

MACC Sports’ leadership devoted dozens of hours to crafting an original skill curriculum, combined with a gospel lesson, for every practice. Coaches are selected based on age-relevant skill levels as well as on their character and responsibility in leading children.

Metropolitan Detroit Diaper Bank

The Metropolitan Detroit Diaper Bank is committed to supporting our community in the safest way possible. As with any crisis, our most vulnerable citizens feel the greatest impact. Rest assured that our mission to end diaper need will remain firmly in place with regular distributions continuing to our community. We are limiting the contact we have with the diapers before we send them to families in need. We also recognize that social distancing measures may increase financial and material hardship as people stay home and cannot access support systems. Diapers are considered an essential service and we will continue to distribute diapers. If you are seeking assistance for an adult, wishing to make a donation or have other business matters please leave a message at 313-356-6470. If you are seeking emergency assistance for your child please text your first and last name with the best number to reach you to 313-356-6470 someone will call to inform you of pick up time and date.

Community Connections

The Bridging the Gap Rapid Response Fund recognizes that leaders and groups throughout the city are especially equipped to respond to the unique and pressing needs and challenges experienced in the Detroit community. The grant provides resources to grassroots and community groups to respond to immediate needs, implement activities, and design bridges to quickly address gaps faced by Detroit families as a result of the pandemic. Groups with a current network and access to Detroit parents, children’s caregivers, and children are encouraged to apply. The Bridging the Gap Rapid Response Fund is a partnership between Community Connections and Hope Starts Here Detroit.

The grant’s primary focus is groups working with children ages 0-8 and/or their families. There is a smaller amount of funding available for groups working with children and young adults ages 9-18 Groups working with college bound youth are encouraged to apply.
