Each application submitted will be carefully reviewed, and approval status will be at the staff’s discretion. Applying DOES NOT guarantee payment for services.
48214 CARE services EMERGENCY requests only.
Effective immediately, we are ONLY servicing residents of the 48214 zip code. Your application will be denied if you are outside of this zip code.
In the meantime, you can explore our resources page to help with your emergency need(s).
Examples of services that are emergencies:
Utilities - Shut-off status only
Rent assistance (upon discretion of staff)
Delinquent internet and phone bill
Groceries - Review the guidelines here.
Transportation - Car repairs
Delinquent homeowners’ or renters’ insurance
Small housing repairs - Plumbing, electrical work, small handy work, etc., completed by a licensed contractor through the state of Michigan.
All licensed contractors require a W-9 form before receiving payment from MACC Development.
Landscaping - Mowing lawns, hedges, etc.

Broken appliances
Examples of services that are NOT emergencies:
Non-essential renovations
Credit card bills
Groceries for events/holidays/parties
Gas or gas vouchers
Non-essential items requests
Other requests that may not be listed are up to the team’s discretion.
Micro-Grant & Direct Payment Disclosure
If you are eligible for payment, it will take up to two weeks to receive payment. Please be patient during this time. Thank you.
You can only receive one direct payment/micro-grant annually for ONE household on ONE request if approved. If you need more help, please don’t hesitate to visit our resources tab.
Micro Grants
An amount determined by the staff is most often paid as reimbursement to cover costs not otherwise addressed by 48214 CARE's mutual aid resources. Examples include necessary repairs, rent, and the cost of repairing a broken appliance. All applicants requesting a Micro-Grant must agree to the Terms and Conditions linked here and should provide some written verification of the price. Requests are not automatically awarded, and 48214 CARE reviews all submissions and approves or disapproves requests at their discretion and according to the information provided by the Applicant. The amount that will be paid out to the applicant is at the staff’s discretion if approved.
Direct Payments
An amount determined by the staff is paid directly to a professional service provider. Examples include the costs of a handyman, rent owed to a landlord, or some other bill that cannot be covered through 48214 CARE's network of resources. All applicants requesting a Direct Payment must agree to the Terms and Conditions linked here and should provide some written verification of the cost. Requests are not automatically awarded, and 48214 CARE reviews all submissions and approves or disapproves requests at their discretion and according to the information provided by the Applicant. The amount that will be paid out to the applicant is at the staff’s discretion if approved.
